Better Life HomeCare is here to meet the individual and unique needs of our clients. Our Non Medical Homecare allows the people we serve to remain in their own homes. Remaining at home in a comfortable, familiar environment provides a sense of control and pride in the ability to continue to live life to its fullest.
Our caregivers are energetic, trustworthy and passionate about the work they do. They are trained by caregivers who have worked in the field thereby bringing life's experiences into the skills that they learn. Their touch is healing and warm, comforting to the people they serve.
Our goal is to alleviate the stress and burden that accompanies the daily tasks of senior care. This way you can find the relief you need in order to enjoy your loved one, in the comfort of their own home.
Brian Schurgin, president of Better Life Homecare, has spent more than the last 10 years of his life as a neuromuscular therapist and caregiver. In 1999, after his grandfather suffered from a stroke, Brian and his family experienced first hand the poor quality of care available. Brian decided that to improve his grandfather’s quality of life he had to intervene. Brian took over as the primary caregiver and started his journey that has led him to where he is today. Taking care of his grandfather was a reminder that he should be helping others.
Since then he has had extensive training and experience that enables him to improve the lives of others, in the comfort and convenience of their own home. He has dedicated his life to giving others a better life.
Lois
Shulman received her J.D Degree from Cooley Law School and focused her
attention in assisting Elders in the management of their care. This
experience was instrumental in overseeing all aspects of the total care
of her parents who suffered from dementia and physical complications
resulting from the debilitating disease. They remained in their home in
South Haven, Michigan while she lived in Detroit with her family.
This challenge affirmed Lois’ belief that individuals suffering from
chronic diseases want to be home surrounded by family and friends. In
home care affords certain emotional and physical benefits that cannot be
attained otherwise.
From these life experiences Lois’ dream and passion came true in the
creation of Better Life Home Care. A company dedicated to impacting the
quality of life for those in need of care.
Lois is currently serving on the Oakland County Community Mental Health
Authority Board and remains active in the mental health community.
